Goats & Stuff

Sunday evening, Fiona and I drove out to her farm in very rural MB. It was so nice to get away from the looming stress of moving and out into the fresh, country air.
Monday morning we helped give a couple of the goats de-worming and iron shots. Then we sat in one of the pastures with the goats for a couple of hours in the sunshine, feeding them leaves and playing with them. It was so much fun! Goats are hilarious creatures. Very distinct personalities and attitudes. One of the goats, Pinky, follows you around like a puppy and answers with a "Bnaa-aaa-a-aaa" when you call her. She's so cuddly and cute! Ah! I love the goats!
That afternoon we took Snippet (Fiona's dog) for a car ride out to Olha, MB. Not far from there, there is a recreation of Ukrainian pioneer huts (called 'Buddhas'), so that was pretty neat to see. We then drove to a mass grave of Ukrainian settlers that died from Scarlet Fever- 42 children and 3 adults. It was nice to see from the guestbook the historical site still had many visitors. Even some people from Lviv had come to visit! It was nice to see that those first settlers were still honoured by people thanking them for building, cultivating and enriching the Canadian prairie landscape.
That evening, Fiona's mum and I helped her pack. She has a worse shoe addiction than I do... so you can imagine what it was like trying to get her to part with her hot pink stilettos! But we got her packed and ready to head to New York.
Fiona's mum made a delicious steak dinner for us, and then Fiona and I had a few brewskis (and cinnamon toast crunch!) each before heading to bed around 3am.
Today we played with pinky and did some errands in town before I headed home. The drive is a long one; but I had the Spice Girls and The Eagles to keep me company. Premium driving music right there.

10 days!
