S-s-s-Stornoway!

Day 2.5 of Stornoway, Scotland. And man, I have never been so thankful for a rain jacket.
I'm steadily getting over my cold now, probably give it three more days and I'll be back to normal- fingers crossed! It rains A LOT, but it's a nice rain... Well, except when it's windy and rainy. Then it's brutal. But it's okay, I'm in Scotland. :)
Today I went to the standing stones at Callanish. The stones were erected by people over 5000 years ago. Which is way too cool. And unlike Stonehenge, you can actually go up and touch them, walk in between and around them. It's very awesome. There is one main grouping of stones in Callanish with over 20 stones; giant monoliths creeping skywards. I arrived early in the morning and missed the tourist crowds, which was nice. The stones are arranged in a four pointed area with a walkway on one side. Check them out here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callanish_Stones
In addition to the main grouping of stones, I walked to the other two sites, Callanish II an Callanish III. Callanish III had the most amazing views from the hilltop. It was a good hike up through the heather, which casts this beautiful purple glow on the hillsides. I ran into some sheep on the way up who posed for a few pictures. It was quite the downpour as I walked up there, but I was rewarded with mostly sunshine when I sat down on one of the stones (yeah, I did) to have my tea. Albeit a fierce wind and heavy rains every now and then, it was quite a nice morning.
This afternoon, after a warm meal of some beef and vegetable stew I made, I curled up in my MEC long johns (which I am never taking off, by the way. Most comfortable things ever) and wrote some postcards to my grandma and a teacher from high school.
I've drank so much tea the past few days... I've had about four cups already today. I think I'll transition into British life just fine.
