A week from today, I'll be on a plane to Helsinki. I'm very excited, and have started packing. Tomorrow I register for fall term- one less thing to worry about before I leave. So here I sit with my back pack on my bed (filled with the complete works of Jane Austen, James Clavell and Shakespeare for trial walks with it) and I can't help but smile at the fact that in less than seven days, I'll be experiencing Europe and Russia for the first and hopefully not the last time.
There are endless things that I'm looking forward to in the next month. Museums, Art Galleries, possibly the Russian ballet- chances of a lifetime. I'm hoping that I can leave my qualms and concerns at home. As a novice traveler, I'm a little bit nervous, but a great deal more anxious to get going. A month is the longest I will have been away from home and seeing my friends and family- but I'm more excited than anything.
I've been talking to a guy from my town who's also a Russian studies minor, that was on the program last summer in St. Petersburg. I'm lucky to have advice from someone who's been on the program before- it's good to have an insider's tips!
Enough about my excitement though.
It's at the point where I'm overthinking it all. I need to leave a little room for adventure.
One week is going to go by so slow.
Check out my kick-ass Russian visa. No big deal or anything:
