Faces.

There's a few things I want to say about some of the people I've met so far. Nothing but good things of course.
My first night in Stornoway, I had the pleasure of meeting a young Scotsman by the name of Adam Mackintosh. Adam was by far one of the most interesting people I have ever met. I met him and his father in the kitchen at Heb Hostel. They were fishing for the weekend in Stornoway, and decided to rent a hostel bed for their last night after fishing. Adam asked where I was from and informed me that he had been WOOFing to Canada before, and traveled it quite extensively. I asked what Adam did, and he told me he was a jeweler.
Now, Adam is no ordinary,"I work at Ben Moss" kind of guy. In the winter months, Adam works in Jaipur, India, mining gemstones. He then makes them into jewelry and sells them in Scotland. He also lives on a hippie commune with his girlfriend who is a dance instructor. He knows Spanish from traveling in South America and Hindi from working in India.
His father is your typical image of an old Scottish fisherman from the Hebrides. As I sat drinking a dram of Hebridean whisky with them, Fisherman Mackintosh gave me some life advice (he was a few glasses of red wine in). They were both very amusing and interesting people. Unforgettable, and they gave me a true Scottish welcom on my first night in lonely Stornoway.

Secondly, there was Lynda. Lynda and her mother were in my hostel in Ullapool. Lynda was a middle aged woman, visiting Ullapool on her late husband's birthday. Ullapool was his favourite place, next to Canada. As soon as she found out I was from Canada, she started crying, because a year ago that day, she and her husband had taken a trip to Canada right after he had been diagnosed. She said that the trip to Canada was a gift to them and it was a place that meant so much to him. We chatted about Canada and she asked about my trip. She was so happy to be talking with a Canadian on her husband's birthday, it made me feel like I was at the right place at the right time with my trip. It made me really happy. Lynda gave me her email address and told me that if I were ever in need of anything, to not hesitate to ask.

It's unbelievable the people you meet while traveling. The nicest people.

Location:Somewhere in Scotland.
