Inverness, what a town.

Now, let me start off by saying I was only going to spend one night in Inverness. Only one. One boring Sunday night.
That was, until I met Helen.
Helen, a vibrant girl from Toronto exclaimed upon my booking for Inverness Tourist Hostel,"you're Canadian?! Me too! There's a girl from Calgary and a guy from Vancouver here too! And he has Timmies!".
Upon my arrival, although there was no timmies left, I sat in the kitchen with Kenny from Vancouver, Jocelyne from Calgary, Helen, Scott from Oklahoma, Luke from Adelaide (another staff member) and various others. We enjoyed some Irn Bru and vodka, and then went to Hootananny's. Hootananny's is a great pub in Inverness with live Scottish music and fantastic Highland ales on tap. The band was dressed in kilts (actually, a ton of people were dressed in kilts there). The pub was filled with locals to the brim. Everyone was smiling, dancing, drinking, laughing. One kilt-clad man was playing the spoons. It was easily the most authentic experience I've had in Scotland thus far.
I woke up the next morning and thought,"Eh, what the hell. I'll stay another night."
And so I did. Monday night Helen, Luke, Philip and Isabel from Germany, Kristine from Denmark and Ger, the Irish hostel manager and I went to Smith&Jones (Monday- Wednesday pints & mixed drinks £1.75) and later to MarketBar. Along the way we met what I assumed to be Scottish Snooki and her friends. These three girls looked like they were right off the Jersey Shore train! It was hilarious; except the one girl kept asking me what America was like. They were waste-cases, but good entertainment nonetheless.
Tuesday, ahhhh, Tuesday. Two guys from Israel joined our crowd from the night before. We headed to Smith&Jones again and played some drinking games before heading to Johnny Foxes Irish Pub for a night cap. Ger had a good laugh at me for that night the next day. Oh, I forgot. Two American girls were there as well. One was fairly friendly, the other glared miserably in her toque and mitts the whole night. She wasn't one to have a good time. It was her loss!
Wednesday, although waking up with a slight headache, I walked out of my room at 9:30. I looked at Helen sitting at the front desk who in return gave me a smirk and said,"I'm booking you another night."
"Yeah, You are." I replied.
And so, what I deemed to be my last night with no exceptions, Wednesday night came along as did a group of German school kids aged 18&19, as well as Juan from Madrid, who had been working in Inverness for five months so far to improve his English. The night started at Smith & Jones, which seemed to be a pre-clubbing hotspot on Wednesdays. After having a few pints there, we headed down the street to Love2Love, a club that albeit slightly empty, was still very fun and enjoyable as we danced the night away.
I was sad to leave Inverness the next day as I had met so many great people. It's a city/town that I will definitely return to. So much fun, and the staff at the hostel were amazing and friendly people that seemed like ancient friends just after a few days. Much love to them all.
