Friday night we arrived in Thunder Bay. My parents and I checked into our hotel and visited with relatives for a bit. My younger cousin Michaela and I chatted for a while and she informed me that she will be in Paris for her spring break next March, so hopefully I'll be able to jaunt over to Paris to see her! Saturday morning we got up and went to The Hoito for breakfast. The Hoito is Thunder Bay's golden treasure of awesome Finnish cuisine. The pancakes are the bomb... They're like Russian blini, so it was nice to have that again.
Saturday afternoon was my cousin Alison's wedding. The weather was beautiful for the outdoor ceremony, and the reception was lovely and very, VERY classy. Champagne was handed to us by servers as we walked in, there was a great Italian- Ukrainian three course meal while Michael Buble played in the background. Matt and my cousins and I took full advantage of the open bar and the great music. My blisters accounted for that at the end of the evening.
Sunday morning Matt and I got up early to head to Amanda's cabin. On the way we stopped at Kakebeka Falls ("The Niagra of The North"). The weather was gorgeous and her cabin is on a beautiful, secluded lake. We spent the day fishing (I caught a bass!), swimming, snorkeling, tubing, quadding and enjoying the sun. I was stupid and neglected to wear sunscreen, so I've been pulling the lobster look and covering my body in aloe vera. Late Sunday night, Matt and I drove back to his place and as soon as I laid down on the couch, I was out.
EXHAUSTED.
Playlist: Wedding classics, Michael Buble, road trip songs and Nelly Furtado oldies.
